Kindred Poster Questions

1. Seconds count when something is trying to kill you
Oh,But I'm talking about suicide
To survive my ancestors had to put up with more than I ever could.
I like this poem because it talks about how ancestors put up with it, and the new ones can't go threw the little things in this world.
2. The most catching picture that caught my eyes where Tia's Group. The world being put has a timer showing how things change threw out time.
3. " I had seen people beaten on television and in the movies. I had sen the too red blood substitute street across their backs and heard their well-rehearsed screams. But I hadn't lain hear by and smelled their sweat or heard them pleading and praying, shamed before their families and themselves." This quote shows how people can take things has in pain physically and emotionally and still go threw the days. Ancestors not saying anything to the brutal punishments. Violence can be seen every where.
4. I believe that they are going to fight over something but by the end they are going to work it out. They might split for a big reason possibly when the boy Rufus knows the truth or something happens with Dana and Alice.

Slavery In America

How did slavery change America? What are the effects of slavery that we see in today's society?

Slavery has changed America in many ways by having racism been going for a century now. Many people have discriminated others just for their skin color. Some effect we see today in society would be the ideaology of a race being superior to another based on skin color. Discrimination seen pretty much in every corner of this country. Having freedom of speech makes us say things that hurt other and makes us fight rather than come together.

My Secret

Dear Pamela,

I would like to persuade you to follow me in getting more immigrant rights.

The greatest obstacles to this happening seem to be to get more laws that will let immigrants come here for good reasons.

I am also worried about the government and other races that don't want any other people coming in anymore.

What do you think of my argument towards immigration?

Thanks for your help.
Sincerely,
Joaquin Gallardo

Comic HW #2

Immortal Technique-Harlem Streets

[Verse 1]
Yeah.... Harlem streets stay flooded in white powder
Like those mother fuckers runnin' away from the twin towers
Gun shots rock the earth like a meteor shower
Bowling For Columbine, fair, giving the media power
Innocence devoured like a chicken spot snack box
Government cocain cooked into ghetto crack rock
Corrupt cops false testimony at your arraignment
Check to check, constant struggle to make the payments
Working your whole life wondering where the day went
The subway stays pakced like a multi-cultural slave ship
It's rush hour, 2:30 to 8, non stoppin'
And people coming home after corporate share croppin
And fuck flossin, mothers are trying to feed children
But gentrification is kicking them out of their building
A generation of babies born without health care
Families homeless, thrown the fuck off of the welfare

[Hook]
Homicide Harldem, BLAOW!, what's the problem?
Homicide Harldem, BLAOW!, what's the problem?
Homicide Harldem, BLAOW!, what's the problem?
Homicide Harldem, BLAOW!, what's the problem?

[Verse 2]
It's like Cambodia the killing fields uptown
We live in distress and hang the flag upside down
The sound of conservative politicians on television
People in the hood are blind so they tell us to listen
They vote for us to go to war instantly
But none of their kids serving the infantry
The odds are stacked against us like a casino
Think about it, most of the army is black and latino
And if you can't acknowledge the reality of my words
You just another stupid mother fucker out on the curb
Trying to escape from the ghetto with your ignorant ways
But you can't read history at an illiterate stage
And you can't raise a family on minimum wage
Why the fuck you think most of us are locked in a cage
I give niggaz the truth, cause they pride is indigent
You better off rich and guilty than poor and innocent
But I'm sick of feeling impotent watching the world burn
In the era of apocalypse waiting my turn
I'm a Harlem nigga that's concerned with the future
And if your in my way it'd be an honor to shoot ya
Up root ya with the evil that grows in my people
Making them deceitful, cannibalistic and lethal
But I see through the mentality implanted in us
And I educate my fam about who we should trust

[Hook]
Homicide Harldem, BLAOW!, what's the problem?
Homicide Harldem, BLAOW!, what's the problem?
Homicide Harldem, BLAOW!, what's the problem?
Homicide Harldem, BLAOW!, what's the problem?

My Comic

This comic shows how someone in this world can be an invidual. You see that Garfield is only thinking of himself by having a flag sayin "Me" on it. This is representing individualism, at the end you see he explains it more and says, "I'm a fan."

Topic: Immigration

This website talks about how the immigration law is being put into force. It determines if a person is an alien(illegal.) Says if the aliens are documented or undocumented saying that if they do have papers to be here or not. The new immigrations laws determines what person are able to come into this country. The INA is a program that the government has that regulates the immigrants being approved to come in. They have changed many laws to keep the immigrants out. This link, mostly talks about how they have the authority to give the opportunity let any immigrant to come in. At the same time they show the bad side by saying all the laws and how they changed them to keep them out.
This source is a reliable one since it talks about the laws and how they have changed through the years. It show that government has made many laws in only a way to keep balance in the country. The US has taken action to have immigrants go home and not be accepted into this country.
It fits into our research by giving ideas of the laws being put into the immigration movement. This can gives us information to go against how a law may not be just to people. NO matter if they are immigrants or citizens.

American Literary Periods

How is the Colonial Period different from the Romantic Period? What are some characteristics of Transcendentalism? How did the Historical Context affect these Literary Periods?

Colonial Period is different from the Romantic period by the romantic having more feelings for the environment. During this time they made a lot of poetry. They celebrated individualism and emotions. People started to question the old ways of doing things. Mostly the church.
The characteristics of Transcendentalism in romantic period is that they valued intuition over reasoning. They had freedom of imagination.
In the romantic period expansion of newspapers brought more information to the people. Slavery debates came along.
